Events

The first ever fundraiser for IDCFC was the Kickball event between the Michigan boards of ASID and IIDA this past September 2009. The event was a tremendous success, raising nearly $4,000.00 dollars with half of the proceeds being directly donated to FernCare. The IIDA team (called New Kicks on the Block) was the victor over ASID (a.k.a. Super Troupers), who vowed to come back strong in 2010. Nearly 90 people attended the event, which was sponsored by over 20 manufacturers and distributors, including Great Walls, who donated the fabulous signage.

The teams wore matching t-shirts with all three logos (IIDA, ASID and IDCFC) on the front and sponsors on the back. IIDA wore green, ASID wore blue, and the volunteers wore purple and orange. The event was kid friendly with playscapes, an ice cream truck, fresh made popcorn, cookies, and even a slush machine. Look for more information to come on this year's Annual Kickball event in 2010.

The first ever Detroit Designers Youtique event was held in early November 2009. The event was a fundraising event for the IDCFC’s Ferncare project. Another goal of the event was to provide a means of income for out of work Interior Designers. Hosted by Designer Interiors by Mark Olk in Royal Oak, Michigan, five other vendors (most interior designers) came out to sell their products. We had a great turn out of about 50 guests who not only helped support our designers and our cause. It was a great opportunity to educate the community about our organization and our current project. We were very happy with the turnout and the beautiful welcoming environment we had for the event. Some of our vendors even received press from the event which created an increase in their sales! We look forward to doing this event again and may even do it twice a year. It is a great way to find unique gift ideas for friends and family.
